Respiratory Education Centre

At St. Paul’s Hospital the Respiratory Education Centre is comprised of a multidisciplinary healthcare team that includes the patient’s primary care provider, respirologist and Respiratory Therapist/Certified Educator. The goal of the Respiratory Education Centre is to help patients acquire the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage their asthma/COPD. Patients will receive individual counselling, asthma/COPD management education and tailored treatment plans to keep patients health conditions stable, optimize quality of life and prevent exacerbations.

Respiratory Therapists/Educators:

  • Perform various tests 
  • Teach patients what medications do, what they are used for and when and how to effectively use their medications 
  • Educate patients on how to avoid triggers that aggravate lung disorders
  • Make recommendations to make patient's lung conditions more manageable
